HomeLab

Self-hosted infrastructure built on Proxmox VE and Linux.

Active

Running my personal infrastructure for learning, automation and everyday services while keeping full control over data and privacy.

A complete self-hosted ecosystem running on Proxmox VE with 17+ LXC containers, 25+ services, and automated weekly backups. Everything accessible via local DNS through 25+ custom *.home.arpa domains.

The environment is designed for hands-on learning, real-world infrastructure management, and day-to-day personal use — from media streaming and photo management to document archival and system monitoring.

Core Services

Core Infrastructure

Physical

Proxmox VE

The hypervisor running everything. Manages all LXC containers and VMs from a single web interface.

Networking & DNS

LXC

AdGuard Home

DNS server for the entire network. Blocks ads and trackers, handles DNS rewrites for all *.home.arpa domains.

LXC

Nginx Proxy Manager

Routes traffic from 25+ local domains to the correct container. All services accessible via clean URLs instead of IP:port.

Media & Entertainment

LXC

Jellyfin

My personal Netflix. Streams movies and TV shows to any device on the network via Samba share.

LXC

Immich

Google Photos replacement with face recognition and AI tagging. Photos stored on NAS, database local.

Docker

Navidrome

Personal music streaming with Subsonic API. Works with any mobile music app.

LXC

Media Stack

Radarr, Sonarr, Prowlarr, Jellyseerr, Bazarr, qBittorrent — the full automated media pipeline from request to playback.

Monitoring & Observability

LXC

Uptime Kuma

Monitors every service in my homelab and instantly alerts me if something goes offline.

LXC

Pulse

Proxmox-specific monitoring — tracks host health, container status, storage usage and temperatures.

LXC

Beszel

Lightweight resource graphs for every node. CPU, RAM, disk and network at a glance.

LXC

Scrutiny

Keeps an eye on disk health via SMART data. Early warning before a drive fails.

Backup

Physical

Proxmox Backup Server

Automated weekly backups of every container and VM. Runs only on Sundays, powered on and off by a smart plug.

Productivity & Tools

LXC

Paperless-ngx

OCR document archive for invoices, contracts and personal documents with full-text search.

LXC

Wiki.js

Where all homelab documentation lives. IP tables, configs, procedures — everything searchable.

LXC

Vikunja

Task manager for homelab projects, ideas and things to fix. Simple boards and lists.

LXC

Stirling PDF

All-in-one PDF toolkit. Merge, split, compress, convert — without uploading anything to the cloud.

LXC

ChangeDetection

Watches websites for changes and sends notifications. Useful for job listings and price drops.

LXC

Homarr

My central dashboard with instant access to every self-hosted service.

Automated Backup System

Every Sunday night, the Proxmox Backup Server is automatically powered on via a Philips Hue smart plug, performs a full backup of all containers and VMs, then gracefully shuts down. Fully automated, zero manual intervention.

Hardware & Philosophy

Infrastructure

  • Proxmox VE (Type 1 Hypervisor)
  • 17+ LXC containers
  • Nginx Proxy Manager for 25+ domains
  • AdGuard Home for DNS & ad blocking
  • PBS for automated weekly backups
  • NAS for media & photo storage
  • Philips Hue smart plug automation

Philosophy

  • Self-host everything possible
  • Privacy-first approach
  • Automated backups (zero manual steps)
  • Monitor everything
  • Document everything (Wiki.js)
  • Local DNS for clean URLs
  • Energy-efficient (PBS only runs when needed)
